Frequently Asked Questions

Are there any pre-requisites for the certificate?

There are no prerequisites to enroll in the certificate but the courses LDRS 2000, 3000 and 4999 all have prerequisites.  For LDRS 2000, students should complete INQR 1000 with a grade of C or better.

Can a leadership experience/course I took in the past count?

If you took a leadership class at another institution, the Registrar will determine if the course is equivalent to any leadership course here at AU.

How long does it take to complete the Certificate of Leadership?

The Certificate of Leadership is typically completed in 2-3 years across various semesters. We encourage students to schedule the courses across semesters in the order of succession listed in the program pathway (INQR 1000, LDRS 2000, LDRS 3000, and LDRS 4999).

How can I check the status of my progress?

Students can check the status of your progress in the Certificate of Leadership program in JagTrax. In JagTrax, under the degree drop-down menu, choose "Certificate of Less that One Year" to see COL course completion.

How do I contact my leadership advisor?

Students can schedule an appointment with the COL program director or advisor by visiting the Office of First and Second Year Experiences in University Hall 331 or contacting the office at COL@augusta.edu or 706-667-4412.

How do I sign up for the Certificate of Leadership?

For students to "declare" they want to enroll in the COL, contact the COL advisor or your assigned undergraduate academic advisor. The advisor will submit an "add curriculum" request via Pounce to add the COL to student records. It is recommended that you inform the COL advisor if the undergraduate academic advisor submits the curriculum request.

What do I do to ensure I am meeting COL requirements?

Meet with the COL advisor once a semester to verify you are on track to meet all COL requirements. Submit your signed Certificate Application (for graduation) to the COL advisor the midterm before your last semester at AU, and the COL director and advisor will sign before sending the form to the Registrar.

A "Celebration of Leadership" typically occurs at the end of the LDRS 4999 course, where students are presented with their honor cord for graduation. The celebration is the final portion of presenting your LDRS 4999 capstone - attendance is required. A brief reception is also held for the LDRS-4999 students at a pre-determined date each semester.

How do I remove the Certificate of Leadership?

Contact either the COL advisor or your academic advisor. The advisor will submit a "remove curriculum" request via Pounce to remove the COL from your student record.

Are LDRS courses offered in the summer terms?

No. At this time, LDRS 2000, 3000, and 4999 are offered every spring and fall semester. They are not offered in the summer.
