IRB Virtual Walk-In Wednesday

Webinar Series

IRB Virtual Walk-In Wednesday is a complimentary webinar series offered by the Â鶹AV University Institutional Review Board (IRB) Office, held three to four times each month on Wednesdays at 10:00 a.m. EST via Microsoft Teams. This educational series provides timely, practical guidance for Â鶹AV and Wellstar MCG Health Medical Center (WMCGH) researchers engaged in human subjects research.

Each session features expert speakers and interactive discussions that address not only IRB requirements, but also the broader institutional processes essential to conducting human subjects research at Â鶹AV. Sessions often include perspectives from multiple research support units to promote a comprehensive understanding of the research lifecycle.

Whether you are new to research or seeking to deepen your expertise, this series equips participants with essential knowledge and tools to navigate the research enterprise effectively.

Target Audience

  • Principal Investigators conducting human subjects research at Â鶹AV and/or Wellstar MCG Health Medical Center (WMCGH)
  • Essential study team personnel (i.e., research coordinators)
  • Student researchers, postdoctoral fellows, and residents
  • Faculty Sponsors
  • Institutional Officials

Learning Objectives

Participants will be able to:

    1. Apply ethical research principles and institutional policies that support human research protection
    2. Navigate IRB submission and post-approval requirements, including new studies, amendments, continuing reviews, reportable events, and multi-site research
    3. Manage regulatory documentation and study records accurately to ensure compliance and data integrity
    4. Understand and integrate guidance from multiple research support units—beyond the IRB—to effectively navigate institutional requirements across the research lifecycle
