About The Program

The Â鶹AV College of Nursing offers two post graduate certificate options: Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP), and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP).

• AGACNP certificate program is designed for APRNs who would like to expand their scope of practice to provide advanced patient-family centered care in settings with acute and/or chronically ill patients across the adult lifespan. Upon completion, the students are eligible to take the Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) certification exam offered by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners or the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
• PMHNP certificate program is designed for APRNs who would like to expand their scope of practice to provide psychiatric and mental healthcare to adult, pediatric & geriatric clients and their families. Upon completion the students are eligible to take the certification exam offered by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

All of these track options are approved by the Georgia Board of Regents as a web-based program with greater than 50 percent of the program taught on-line. Due to the progressive nature of the specialty courses, these options are typically considered part-time study only (less than 9 credit hours per semester)

Clinical courses emphasize the care of patients and their families. The program includes completion of relevant specialty clinical courses with clinical experiences at a variety of ambulatory practices in Georgia or South Carolina. The program personnel will conduct a gap analysis for each student to identify additional courses that may be needed to meet certification and accreditation standards.
