Become A Tutor

The CLASS is always looking for motivated and professional students to join our team as Peer Educators.

Apply for the Peer Educator Roles

We offer several distinct roles to suit different talents and interests:

Embedded Tutor

  • Collaborates with faculty to support specific courses.
  • Attends class sessions and provides tailored academic support to students.

Content Tutor

  • Offers one-on-one or group tutoring in specific subjects.
  • Helps students master course material and develop effective study habits.

Academic Coach

  • Assists students with time management, goal setting, and learning strategies.
  • Focuses on building transferable skills for overall academic success.

Front Desk Peer Educator

  • Serves as the first point of contact for students visiting CLASS.
  • Manages check-ins, schedules appointments, and provides information about services.

 

Responsibilities

As a Peer Educator, you will support the CLASS’ mission of fostering academic success. Responsibilities include:

Embedded Tutors, Content Tutors, and Coaches:

  • Provide academic support through one-on-one or group sessions.
  • Adapt strategies to meet individual student needs.
  • Maintain professionalism and document session details accurately.

Front Desk Peer Educators:

  • Welcome students and manage check-ins.
  • Assist with scheduling appointments and sharing information about CLASS services.
  • Perform administrative duties such as organizing materials and maintaining records.

 

Eligibility and Requirements

Eligibility

  • Current Âé¶¹AV student enrolled in at least 10 credit hours.
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0, with at least a 3.0 in the course(s) you wish to tutor (if applying for a tutoring role).
  • Faculty recommendation in the subject area you wish to tutor.

Requirements

  • Attend mandatory tutor training sessions.
  • Enroll in ASII-1201: Training for Peer Educators (for tutoring and coaching roles)

  1. Apply Through Handshake: Look for the Peer Educator position at the Academic Success Center.
  2. Submit Required Documents.
  3. Provide a faculty recommendation letter or email.
  4. Contact us with any questions.
