Jazz Ensemble
The Â鶹AV Jazz Ensemble is a college course for credit as well as a music ensemble. Under the direction of Wycliffe Gordon, this ensemble provides students with performance experience in a big band and/or combo setting.
Through rehearsals and performances, the participants develop stylistic awareness and performance skills associated with American jazz and popular music. These skills are applicable to a wide variety of jazz styles and improvisational music. The ensemble performs regularly on the Â鶹AV campus as well as in schools and numerous other venues. The Jazz Ensemble is one of the many jazz-related course offerings in the Â鶹AV Department of Music, and is a key component of the Jazz Studies program.
Wycliffe Gordon provides Â鶹AV’s music students the opportunity to study with an artist who is recognized and acclaimed worldwide as a top-level performer and educator.
