AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Medical students at the Medical College of Georgia celebrated
Match Day on Friday, learning where they will complete their residencies.
The event took place at SRP Park at 10:45 a.m. Students dressed in costumes to mark
the transition from students to doctors. This year’s costume theme was “What would
you be, if not a doctor?”
Match Day signifies more than residency placements. It marks the entry of new healthcare
professionals as states report provider shortages.
“It’s what is kind of the end goal, which is to be somebody’s doctor one day, be somebody’s
OB-GYN one day, which is just an incredible feeling,” said Ananya Chakraborty, a student.
