Quality Enhancement Plan

Background on the QEP

Â鶹AV is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). Every ten years, SACSCOC requires universities to undergo comprehensive review to reaffirm accreditation. Â鶹AV’s next reaffirmation will take place in December 2026. At that time, the university will submit a Compliance Certification document in September 2025 and a new Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) in January 2026. The QEP is a way for the university to have a positive impact on student learning outcomes and success. According to , the QEP

is derived from the institution’s ongoing comprehensive planning and evaluation processes. It reflects and affirms a commitment to enhance overall institutional quality and effectiveness by focusing on an issue that the institution considers important to improving student learning outcomes and/or student success.

When it submits its plan document, the institution must demonstrate that the QEP:

1.  Has a topic identified through its ongoing, comprehensive planning and evaluation processes;

2.  Has broad-based support of institutional constituencies;

3.  Focuses on improving specific student learning outcomes and/or student success;

4.  [Has] resources [committed] to initiate, implement and complete the QEP;

5.  Includes a plan to assess achievement (SACSCOC, 2018).

As noted above, a successful QEP is one that is informed by institutional planning and student learning outcome data. It should also have the support of the campus community and take into account student, faculty, and staff experiences, perceptions, and priorities. Without campus support, a QEP will not achieve its goals. That’s where you come in—your voice matters.
