Bio

I am a physician board certified in both Internal and Pulmonary Medicine. I have spent most of my professional career in acadmic medicine. In 2012 I joined the medical staff at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, Georgia. In July of 2013 I became the Designated Institutional Official of Graduate Medical Education until October of 2022. During that time, I helped develop and start six training programs (five residencies and one fellowship). In September of 2023 I became the program Director of the Internal Medicine Residency at Wellstar Cobb Hospital until November 2025. I have earned multiple Outstanding Educator Awards. I am an adjunct Clinical Professor at the Medical College of Georgia. Currently, I hold the position of Associate Dean of the Wellstar-MCG Kennestone Regional Clinical Campus in Marietta, Georgia.

Teaching Interests

During my academic career I have supervised and taught both residents and medical students in the in-patient and ambulatory settings. I have developed various pulmonary lectures and presented them to learners and faculty (see CV). I have also developed lectures for faculty development conferences at Wellstar and for the annual MCG Statewide Faculty Development Conference (see CV). I have lectured at the Healthcare Matters Module for the MCG students: Electronic Medical Record/Electronic Healthcare Record and their effect on patient flow, patient throughput, and length of stay. I reviewed with the students our publication on the Discharge Readiness Tool (DRT) mentioned below in the research section..

Research Interests

I have participated in clinical research looking at the impact of of certain social determinants of health on emergency room visit in our Graduate Medical Education ambulatory clinic population. I published a research article on a tool (DIscharge Readiness Tool) (DRT) I developed in the electronic medical record (EMR) along with designing a specific rounding model which helped decrease both length of stay and discharge time of hospitalized patients. I have multiple publications on Lung Cancer Screening as part of the International Early Lung Cancer Action Investigators.
