As the largest clinical department in the Dental College of Georgia, the Restorative Sciences faculty is constantly improving didactic and clinical education for the dental students enrolled at the school. These students are the professionals of tomorrow and receive the most current and up-to-date education available. At both the dental student and post-doctoral levels of dental education, the department is striving to produce the consummate dental health care provider for tomorrow's health care needs. The extensive background and expertise of the faculty and staff also provides excellence in continuing education to keep current dental practitioners on the cutting edge of dentistry. The Restorative Sciences Department blends a strong program of bio-materials research from the Dental Materials Section with an outstanding clinical program. Areas of Focus
Dental Materials
Pioneering research in dental materials science advances amalgam, ceramics, polymers, adhesive dentistry, light-curing and digital fabrication. Comprehensive education and clinical translation connect laboratory discoveries to patient care and future dental practice.
Diagnosis and Treatment Planning
The process of using critical thinking to decide which data obtained by taking a patient history and clinical examination are pertinent, and then organizing these pertinent data into a concise list of clinical problems.
Fixed Prosthodontics
The art and science of restoring defective or damaged teeth and/or replacing missing teeth.
Operative Dentistry
The art and science of the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases or trauma to teeth.
Removable Prosthodontics
The area of Prosthodontics related with the replacement of teeth and contiguous structures for edentulous or partially edentulous patients, by artificial substitutes that are readily removable from the mouth.
Esthetic & Implant Dentistry
The Ronald Goldstein Center for Esthetic & Implant Dentistry is treating patients who desire smile improvement using porcelain veneers, all ceramic crowns or implants, from minor conditions to extensive full mouth reconstructions.
Advanced Education Program in Prosthodontics
The Advanced Education Program in Prosthodontics provides a comprehensive course of study in clinical and didactic prosthodontics.

Preparing tomorrow's oral health care providers, the Restorative Sciences Department is comprised of the specialty areas in dentistry which concentrate primarily on rebuilding the oral structures into a healthy state by a combination of treatment planning and then the execution of the art and science of restorative dentistry.

Our prosthodontists specialize in the replacement of missing teeth and the restoration of natural teeth to restore your smile and confidence while preventing further damage. As leaders in the development of new concepts and techniques for analyzing the interaction between biomaterials and various anatomical structures, we have positioned ourselves to create, analyze, and implement synthetic materials for tissue replacement and prosthetic therapy.
