Predoctoral Program

The goal of the periodontal student program curriculum is to enable students to integrate periodontics into a general dental practice. The curriculum is designed to train the dental student to perform a comprehensive periodontal examination, establish a periodontal diagnosis, determine both individual tooth and overall periodontal prognosis, formulate a periodontal treatment plan that is integrated into the patient's overall dental treatment plan in proper sequence, provide non-surgical and surgical periodontal treatment for gingivitis and mild to moderate periodontitis, evaluate the response to periodontal therapy, and devise and implement an appropriate periodontal maintenance program
