Dental Implant Surgery
The Â鶹AV Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons work closely with other dentists and dental specialists including prosthodontists in the treatment of missing teeth with dental implant placement and bone grafting to the jaws and sinuses. Implant surgery also includes placement of maxillofacial implants around the face for attaching craniofacial prostheses and bone-anchored hearing aids.
Cancer of the Head and Neck
Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons with Fellowship training in Head and Neck Oncology Surgery are involved in research and prevention of disease, and they treat patients with various benign and malignant head and neck tumors, including as squamous cell carcinoma. This also includes treatment of cutaneous malignancy including lip and skin cancers of the head and neck. At Â鶹AV, we participate in the Â鶹AV University Multidisciplinary Head and Neck Tumor Board and will either needle or open biopsy suspicious head and neck lesions and help you direct your health.
Pathologic Conditions of the Head and Neck
Treatment of oral and head and neck pathology includes benign cysts and tumors, as well as more advanced stage disease processes, including the management of salivary gland disorders and masses.

Facial Skeletal Deformity Corrections
Together the Â鶹AV oral and maxillofacial surgeons collectively collaborate with private orthodontists and the Â鶹AV Dental College of Georgia orthodontist to provide corrective jaw surgery to correct a variety of different jaw deformities including overbite and underbite problems. This includes mandibular (lower) and maxillary (upper) surgery as well as genioplasty (chin) procedures and midface osteotomies.
Cleft and Craniofacial Surgery
Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons are an essential component of a multi-disciplinary craniofacial team, and they work closely with the other members of the team, including Orthodontists and Neurosurgeons. This area includes the diagnosis and treatment of congenital craniofacial malformations such as cleft lip and palate, and cranial vault malformations such as craniosynostosis (craniofacial surgery).
Facial Trauma Surgery
The Â鶹AV Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons are an essential part of the Â鶹AV Trauma team. We are commonly called by the hospital to manage all types of acute maxillofacial injuries including hard and soft tissue trauma. This includes jaw fractures, cheek bone fractures, nasal fractures, Lefort maxillary fractures, skull fractures, and orbital (eye socket) fractures and reconstruction. We also take consultations from outside Â鶹AV and will evaluate walk-in facial trauma and injury.
Facial Aesthetic Surgery
The Â鶹AV Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons perform aesthetic surgery of the head and neck including rhytidectomy (facelift), browlifting, blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery), otoplasty (ear surgery), rhinoplasty (nose surgery), septoplasty (for deviated nasal septum), malar (cheek) augmentation, chin augmentation or reduction, periorbital surgery, neck liposuction, lip enhancement, injectable cosmetic treatments including Botox/Xeomin and Restylane (and other fillers).
Temporomandibular Joint Surgery
Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons are the surgical specialists who manage patients with TMJ pathology, working with other specialists including Restorative Dentists, Orthodontists, Facial Pain Specialists, and Physical Therapists to surgically manage the joint after failure of conservative therapy. We provide arthroscopic jaw surgery and temporomandibular joint arthrocentesis (washing of your joint).
Sleep Apnea Surgery
At Â鶹AV, the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons will evaluate you for surgical correction of your obstructive sleep apnea. We will comprehensively review your case and offer you surgical options based upon a thorough work up and management with your sleep medicine doctor. We offer nasal, tongue, and jaw surgeries to help open your airway and decrease one's reliance on CPAP.
